Veterans and community members gather at the Hometown Veterans Block Party in North Las Vegas, celebrating with food, music, and activities to honor and support local veterans.

The City of North Las Vegas recently transformed into a hub of celebration, marking two significant milestones: the first annual Hometown Veterans Block Party and the one-year anniversary of the Veterans & Community Resource Center. This wasn’t just another event—it was a heartfelt tribute to the brave men and women who have served, combining fun, festivities, and a deep sense of appreciation for veterans across the valley.

The block party brought together a diverse mix of residents, young and old, in a day filled with joy, laughter, and reflection. But beyond the food, music, and activities, the day carried a powerful message: veterans are not forgotten, and the community stands united in its gratitude for their service.

The Veterans & Community Resource Center has completed its first year, and what a year it has been. Lauded by city officials as a revolutionary support system, the center has become an essential pillar in the region, providing veterans with a one-stop shop for vital services. From employment to housing, education, mental health, finance, and legal support, the center offers an impressive range of no-cost resources that highlight the city’s unwavering commitment to its veterans.

The Hometown Veterans Block Party was the perfect backdrop for this celebration of service. With more than 80 vendors offering everything from local crafts to veteran-focused services, the community came together in an unforgettable atmosphere of camaraderie and respect. The day’s significance was punctuated by the presence of Congressman Steven Horsford and Councilman Richard Cherchio, both of whom expressed their gratitude to the veteran community while joining in on the day’s festivities.

The music, food, and activities provided plenty of entertainment, but the underlying theme of honor and remembrance was never far from people’s minds. Veterans, along with their families, mingled with community members, creating a shared sense of unity and togetherness. The festive atmosphere underscored the community’s collective appreciation for those who have sacrificed so much.

While the event was a joyful tribute, the work of the Veterans & Community Resource Center goes far beyond special occasions. Its dedicated team works tirelessly, providing veterans and their families with personalized support to meet their unique needs. The center’s holistic, one-on-one approach ensures that every veteran who walks through its doors feels valued and supported. The event’s 80 vendors were a testament to the community’s commitment to veterans, demonstrating how widespread that support truly is.

The first annual Hometown Veterans Block Party was a resounding success, but more than that, it was a powerful statement of respect and dedication to those who have worn the uniform. As the Veterans & Community Resource Center enters its second year, the spirit of the event will continue to resonate throughout North Las Vegas, reminding everyone that supporting veterans is not just a one-day celebration—it’s a daily commitment.
